DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) is a neuromodulatory nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood in 1974. It is studied for its role in circadian rhythm regulation, stress hormone modulation, and neurophysiological signalling related to sleep-wake cycles in preclinical research models.
DSIP has been explored for its ability to modulate ACTH, cortisol, and somatostatin release, its interaction with opiate receptor systems, and its putative role in normalising sleep architecture in animal models of disrupted circadian function.
