Dermorphin (Tyr-D-Ala-Phe-Gly-Tyr-Pro-Ser-NH₂) is a naturally occurring heptapeptide first isolated from the skin secretions of South American Phyllomedusa bicolor and Phyllomedusa sauvagei frogs. It was the first naturally occurring opioid peptide found to contain a D-amino acid residue (D-alanine at position 2), which confers exceptional μ-opioid receptor (MOR) selectivity and metabolic stability versus endogenous enkephalins and endorphins.

Dermorphin is among the most potent natural μ-opioid receptor agonists known, with binding affinity and potency several hundred times greater than morphine. In research, it is used as a selective μ-opioid receptor probe to study MOR pharmacology, opioid receptor structure-activity relationships, pain signalling pathways, and the role of D-amino acid incorporation in peptide biology.
